A Great Race Day
More than 200 runners participated in the Third Annual Bieni Kohler-Johnson 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, September 4, at the HPA cross country course.
Andrew Langtry took top honors in the men's division with a time of 21:08.86, while Sylvia Ravaglia clocked in the fastest women's time at 25:00.32. For complete race results, click here.
According to race organizer Liz Noetzel, the event raised more than $10,000 for the Ulrike Katharina "Bieni" Kohler-Johnson Scholarship Award at HPA. The scholarship recognizes three young women who are gifted in athletics, academics, or the arts; who understand their responsibility to work hard to develop and share those gifts; and who demonstrate a sincere commitment and willingness to go the "extra mile" for friendly, family, or a worthy cause. Recipients of this year's award were Jasmine Fojas, Kristiana Van Pernis, and Katherine Case.
Kohler-Johnson, who graduated from HPA in 1983, passed away in June 2009 after a valiant battle against breast cancer.
